What are the characteristics of an ANSI mesh storage shelf?
The ANSI standard, developed by the American National Standards Institute, is a set of standards designed to ensure high quality, safety, and performance of various products. This standard also applies to mesh shelves.
Mesh shelves from Natom Logistic that meet the ANSI standard have features and parameters in line with those developed by the standard.
They are characterized by appropriate dimensions, load capacity, and are made from materials with specified quality and strength parameters. They are also constructed to meet strict durability requirements.
ANSI shelves produced by Natom Logistic undergo very rigorous strength tests, which guarantees high quality and durability.
Using ANSI shelves definitely impacts warehouse work safety. The strength required by the standards imposes very strict guidelines regarding load capacity and the quality of the mesh shelf’s construction. These requirements make an ANSI shelf safer to use, as it is usually capable of carrying higher loads than required.
The ANSI standard assumes a UDL load – L/165.
UDL stands for Uniformly Distributed Load over the entire length of a structural element such as a beam. L/165 is an indicator of the maximum deflection of the structural element of the shelf, where L is the depth of the span (shelf), i.e., the external distance between supports, and the number 165 is the divisor. Thus, meeting the ANSI standard for a shelf with dimensions of 1100 mm (shelf depth) x 890 mm (shelf length) and a reference load capacity of 300 kg / m², the shelf must meet the condition L/165 = 1100/165 = 6.66, so for such a shelf compliant with the ANSI standard, the maximum deflection is 6.66 mm.
In construction design, adhering to UDL limits and deflection criteria, such as L/165, ensures that structures can withstand anticipated loads without excessive bending or damage, contributing to their safety and efficiency.

- Mesh shelf 300 kg/m², UDL – L/165 ANSI
- Mesh shelf 500 kg/m², UDL – L/165 ANSI
- Mesh shelf 800 kg/m², UDL – L/165 ANSI
- Mesh shelf 1000 kg/m², UDL – L/165 ANSI
